The Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Commencement No. 13) Order 1999

  Made 15th December 1999 

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 171(1) of the Criminal Justice Act 1988[1], I hereby make the following Order:

     1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Commencement No. 13) Order 1999.

    
2. The following provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 shall come into force on 1st January 2000 -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force the repeal of sections 39 and 40 of the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973, which is effected by section 170(2) of, and Schedule 16 to, the Criminal Justice Act 1988 ("the 1988 Act"). The repealed provisions relate to criminal bankruptcy orders. The power to make such orders was abolished on 3rd April 1989 by section 101 of the 1988 Act.
