In exercise of the power conferred on me by section 101(3) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998[1], I hereby make the following Order: 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1999. (2) In this Order, "the 1998 Act" means the Northern Ireland Act 1998. 2. A provision of the 1998 Act referred to in the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 2nd December 1999. (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 2nd December 1999, provisions of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. By virtue of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Appointed Day) Order 1999, that day is the appointed day under section 3 of that Act when Parts II and III of the Act, which make provision for the legislative powers and executive authorities of the Northern Ireland Assembly, are commenced. This Order brings into force other provisions of the Act in connection with the devolution of power to the Assembly. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the 1998 Act come into force under the orders, and on the dates, indicated below.
Notes: [1] 1998 c. 47.back [2] The Fair Employment (Northern Ireland) Act 1976, and the Fair Employment (Northern Ireland) Act 1989, have been repealed by the Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/3162 (N.I. 21)). The entries in Schedule 15 which relate to these Acts have therefore been superseded.back
