The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 69 and 77(1)(b) of the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994[1], makes the following Order, a draft of which has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament. Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Contracting Out (Jury Summoning Functions) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 31st August 1999. Interpretation 2. In this Order,:
(b) the signing of certificates of posting under section 2(6) of the Act.
Contracting out of functions (This note is not part of the Order) This Order enables the Lord Chancellor to authorise another person, or that person's employees, to perform the functions of the Lord Chancellor under section 2 of the Juries Act 1974, in so far as those functions involve the production and posting of jury summonses, and the signing of certificates of posting under section 2(6) of the Juries Act 1974.
