The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by article 74(1) of the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995[1] and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Rules of the Air (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 14th May 1999. 2. The Schedule to the Rules of the Air Regulations 1996[2] shall be amended as follows: (1) In rule 5(2)(c)(ii):
(b) for "exhibition" there shall be substituted "display"; (c) in sub-paragraph (aa) for "the exhibition of flying" there shall be substituted "the flying display" and for "the organiser of the exhibition of flying" there shall be substituted "the flying display director"; and (d) in sub-paragraph (bb) for "display authorisation" there shall be substituted "pilot display authorisation".
(2) In rule 5(2)(c)(iii) for "an exhibition of flying" there shall be substituted "a flying display" and for "exhibition" there shall be substituted "display". (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations amend the Rules of the Air Regulations 1996. (1) Following changes to article 61 of the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995, references in Rule 5(2) are now made to a flying display, a flying display director and a pilot display authorisation (regulation 2(1) and (2)). (2) Permission required by an aircraft to taxi on the apron or the manoeuvring area of an aerodrome or by a vehicle or person to go or move on the manoeuvring area of an aerodrome may be obtained from the aerodrome flight information service unit (regulation 2(4) and (5)).
