The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 66(8) and 77(2) and (4) of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996[1], hereby makes the following Order: 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (Appointed Day No.9) Order 1999. (2) This Order extends to England and Wales only. 2. 1st April 1999 is hereby appointed for the purposes of section 66 of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996. Jack Straw One of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State Home Office 9th March 1999 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order appoints 1st April 1999 for the purposes of section 66 of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (summons to witness to attend Crown Court). The Order extends to England and Wales only. Section 66 applies in relation to any proceedings for the purpose of which no witness summons has been issued under section 2 of the Criminal Procedure (Attendance of Witnesses) Act 1965 before 1st April 1999.
