NATIONAL LOTTERY

The Apportionment of Money in the National Lottery Distribution Fund Order 1999

  Made 14th February 1999 
  Coming into force 15th February 1999 

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before, and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament pursuant to section 60(2) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993[1];

     Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 28(1) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Apportionment of Money in the National Lottery Distribution Fund Order 1999 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Apportionment of Money in the National Lottery Distribution Fund
    
2.  - (1) With effect from 15th February 1999 section 22(3) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993[2] (apportionment of money in Distribution Fund) shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (6) below.

    (2) In subsection (3)(a) (16⅔ per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the arts) for "16⅔ per cent." there shall be substituted "5 per cent.".

    (3) In subsection (3)(b) (16⅔ per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with sport) for "16⅔ per cent." there shall be substituted "5 per cent.".

    (4) In subsection (3)(c) (16⅔ per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the national heritage) for "16⅔ per cent." there shall be substituted "5 per cent.".

    (5) In subsection (3)(d) (16⅔ per cent. to be allocated for charitable expenditure) for "16⅔ per cent." there shall be substituted "5 per cent.".

    (6) In subsection (3)(f) (13⅓ per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with health, education or the environment) for "13⅓ per cent." there shall be substituted "60 per cent.".

     3.  - (1) With effect from 17th May 1999 section 22(3) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 (apportionment of money in Distribution Fund) shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (6) below.

    (2) In subsection (3)(a) (5 per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the arts) for "5 per cent." there shall be substituted "16⅔ per cent.".

    (3) In subsection (3)(b) (5 per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with sport) for "5 per cent." there shall be substituted "16⅔ per cent.".

    (4) In subsection (3)(c) (5 per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the national heritage) for "5 per cent." there shall be substituted "16⅔ per cent.".

    (5) In subsection (3)(d) (5 per cent. to be allocated for charitable expenditure) for "5 per cent." there shall be substituted "16⅔ per cent.".

    (6) In subsection (3)(f) (60 per cent. to be allocated for expenditure on or connected with health, education or the environment) for "60 per cent." there shall be substituted "13⅓ per cent.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


Article 2 of this Order amends the apportionment of money in the National Lottery Distribution Fund so as to provide that from 15th February 1999 the money in the Distribution Fund (less such sum as the Secretary of State considers appropriate for making payments under section 31 of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993) shall be apportioned as follows:-

    (a) 5 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the arts,

    (b) 5 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with sport,

    (c) 5 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the national heritage,

    (d) 5 per cent. shall be allocated for charitable expenditure,

    (e) 20 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on projects to mark the year 2000 and the beginning of the third millennium, and

    (f) 60 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with health, education or the environment.

Article 3 of this Order further amends the apportionment of money in the National Lottery Distribution Fund so as to provide that from 17th May 1999 the money in the Distribution Fund (less such sum as the Secretary of State considers appropriate for making payments under section 31 of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993) shall be apportioned as follows:-

    (a) 16⅔ per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the arts,

    (b) 16⅔ per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with sport,

    (c) 16⅔ per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with the national heritage,

    (d) 16⅔ per cent. shall be allocated for charitable expenditure,

    (e) 20 per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on projects to mark the year 2000 and the beginning of the third millennium, and

    (f) 13⅓ per cent. shall be allocated for expenditure on or connected with health, education or the environment.
