The Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1998

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 7(2) of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:-

     1. This Order may be cited as the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1998.

    
2. Section 3(1) of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 shall come into force on 22nd October 1998.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force on 22nd October 1998 section 3(1) of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 (power to make an Order in Council to make exceptions, adaptations and modifications to the Carriage by Air Act 1961[
2], the Carriage by Air (Supplementary Provisions) Act 1962[3] and section 5(1) of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979[4] in consequence of the United Kingdom agreeing to an amendment to the Warsaw Convention as amended at The Hague, 1955). This Order is necessary to allow implementation in the UK of Montreal Additional Protocol No. 4, 1975.



NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

The following provisions of the Carriage by Air and Road Act 1979 have been brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order:
