The Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) Regulations 1998

  Coming into force 5th October 1998 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1998[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and having regard to the matters specified in section 2(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations - 

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 5th October 1998.

Interpretation
    
2. In these Regulations, "the 1998 Regulations" means the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998[2].

Extension of the 1998 Regulations to the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man
     3. The 1998 Regulations are hereby amended by the insertion of the following regulation after regulation 2 - 

    
3. These Regulations other than regulation 2(d) shall extend to the Bailiwick of Jersey, the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the Isle of Man.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


The Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/1567) as amended by the Wireless Telegraphy (Licence Charges) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/1703) (together "the 1998 Regulations") were made under section 1 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1998 (c.6; "the 1998 Act").

Following the extension of the 1998 Act to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man respectively by the Wireless Telegraphy (Jersey) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/1512), the Wireless Telegraphy (Guernsey) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/1511) and the Wireless Telegraphy (Isle of Man) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/1510), these Regulations effect the extension of the 1998 Regulations other than regulation 2(d) (which concerns fee increases for holders of certain Public Mobile Operator Licences) to the Islands.
