WATER SUPPLY, SCOTLAND

The West of Scotland Water Authority (Loch Lossit, Islay) (Amendment) Water Order 1998

  Made 28th July 1998 
  Coming into force 28th July 1998 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 107(1)(b) and (3) of the Water (Scotland) Act 1980[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, on the application of The West of Scotland Water Authority, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as The West of Scotland Water Authority (Loch Lossit, Islay) (Amendment) Water Order 1998 and shall come into force on 28th July 1998.

    (2) This Order and The Argyll County Council (Loch Lossit, Islay) Water Order 1960[
2] (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Order") may be cited together as The West of Scotland Water Authority (Loch Lossit, Islay) Water Orders 1960 and 1998.

Amendment of the principal Order
     2.  - (1) In article 5(2) of the principal Order, for the expression "25,000 gallons" there shall be substituted the expression "300 cubic metres (66,000 gallons)".

    (2) For the Schedule to the principal Order there shall be substituted the Schedule to this Order.

Miscellaneous
    
3. The West of Scotland Water Authority shall at all times after the expiration of six months from the date on which this Order comes into force keep a copy thereof at the office of the Chief Executive of the Authority.

SCHEDULE
Article 2(2)

The works referred to in this Order and shown on the deposited plan marked "The West of Scotland Water Authority (Loch Lossit, Islay) (Amendment) Water Order 1998, Plan of Catchment Area, Location Plan, Plan and Section of Works" are-

Works 1 An intake pipe 40 metres or thereby in length situated on the northern shore with the intake and loch level gauge-board located some 100 metres south-west of the burn discharging from the loch.
Works 2 A treatment works containing an approved gauge and instru mentation to measure and record the amount of water taken from the loch.
Works 3 A discharge pipe 74 metres or thereby in length to convey the treatment works reject stream to the outfall located at a point on the burn some 68 metres or thereby downstream of Loch Lossit.
