The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (as respects England) and the Secretary of State for Wales (as respects Wales), in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 20 of the Land Compensation Act 1973[1], hereby make the following Regulations, a draft of which was laid before Parliament for 40 days during which period neither House of Parliament resolved that the Regulations should not be made[2]: Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Noise Insulation (Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on the tenth day after the day on which they are made. Amendment of the Noise Insulation (Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems) Regulations 1996 2. The Noise Insulation (Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems) Regulations 1996[3] shall be amended by the insertion in paragraph (1) of regulation 9 after the words "Calculation of Railway Noise 1995" of the words "and the supplement to that technical memorandum entitled Calculation of Railway Noise 1995 (Supplement 1)". Those procedures are described in "Calculation of Railway Noise 1995 (Supplement 1)" copies of which are obtainable by the public from The Stationery Office [ISBN 0 11 551873 8].
