The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and of all other enabling powers: - 1. The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force. 2. The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan. 3. The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall become an unclassified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Gwynedd that the new trunk road is open for through traffic. 4. In this Order: - all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;
(ii) "the new trunk road" means the highway mentioned in Article 1 of this Order; (iii) "the trunk road" means the Cardiff to Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470).

This Order shall come into force on 5th March 1998 and may be cited as the Cardiff to Glan Conwy Trunk Road (A470) (Ty Nant to North of Maentwrog Road Station Improvement) Order 1998. The route of the new trunk road is a route at Maentwrog in the County of Gwynedd as follows: - a route about 250 metres in length, starting at a point on the trunk road about 70 metres northeast of the Maentwrog Road Station railway bridge and terminating at a point on the trunk road about 320 metres northeast of the same point. (This route being given the reference letters A and B on the deposited plan). The length of trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is that length of the A470 trunk road which extends from a point 35 metres south of the property known as "Arfryn" in a northerly direction for a distance of 65 metres.
