The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred on her by section 25(1) and (2) of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997[1] and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation and interpretation 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997 (Commencement No. 5) Order 1997. (2) In this Order, references to "the Act" are references to the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997. Appointed days 2. - (1) The day appointed for the coming into force of section 15 of the Act (penalty as alternative to prosecution) -
(b) for all other purposes is 18th December 1997.
(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Act and section 22 of the Act in so far as it relates to that paragraph is 18th December 1997. (This note is not part of the Order) This Order provides for the coming into force of section 15 of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) Act 1997, which concerns a penalty as an alternative to prosecution, for the purposes of making regulations on 21st November 1997 and for all other purposes on 18th December 1997. It also provides for the coming into force of a consequential amendment in paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to that Act on 18th December 1997. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions have been brought into force by -
