ROAD TRAFFIC

The A501 Trunk Road (Camden)(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 1997

  Made 7th November 1997 
  Coming into force 10th November 1997 

The Traffic Director for London, following a direction given to him by the Secretary of State under section 58(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1991[1] and in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[2], and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order: - 

     1. This Order may be cited as The A501 Trunk Road (Camden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 1997 and shall come into force on the 10 November 1997.

    
2. This Order is made because the Traffic Director for London is satisfied that traffic on the lengths of road, mentioned in the schedules to this Order should be prohibited or that restrictions should be suspended because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near those lengths of road.

    
3. During the period starting at 00.01 hours on 10th November 1997 for a period of twelve weeks, or when those works have been completed, whichever is the sooner, subject to the provisions of article 4 below:

    (1) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to stop at any time in the roads, or lengths of road, specified in schedule 1 to this Order.

    (2) the provisions of the London Borough of Camden (Trunk Roads) Red Route (Bus Lanes) Traffic Order 1997[
3] are suspended so far as they relate to the length of road specified in schedule 2 to this Order.

     4.  - (1) The provisions of article 3 above shall apply only during such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

    (2) The provisions specified in article 3 above shall not apply in respect of - 

      (i) any vehicle being used for the purpose of those works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purpose, or

      (ii) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.

     5. In so far as, and during such times as, the prohibition specified in article 3 above is in force, the provisions of the A501 Trunk Road (Camden, Islington and Westminster) Red Route Traffic Order 1997[4] are hereby suspended so far as they relate to the lengths of road specified in schedule 1 to this Order.

SCHEDULE 1
Article 3(1)

1. Gray's Inn Road, the north-east side, from the party wall of The Royal Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and 328 Gray's Inn Road north-westward for a distance of 20 metres.
2. Gray's Inn Road, the south-west side, from a point 12 metres north-west of the common boundary of 259 and 261 to 265 Gray's Inn Road north-westward for a distance of 18 metres.
3. Gray's Inn Road, the north and north-east side, from a point 4 metres west of the party wall of 368 and 370 Gray's Inn Road eastward for a distance of 16.5 metres.
4. Gray's Inn Road, the north and north-east side, from the party wall of The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and 328 Gray's Inn Road south-eastward for a distance of 15 metres.
5. Gray's Inn Road, the south side, from the party wall of 325 and 327 Gray's Inn Road eastward for a distance of 20 metres.
6. Gray's Inn Road, the south-west side, from the party wall of 307 and 309 Gray's Inn Road south-eastward for a distance of 21 metres.



SCHEDULE 2
Article 3(2)

1. Gray's Inn Road, the south-west side, between the north-west kerb-line of Argyle Street and a point 75 metres east of the eastern kerb-line of Birkenhead Street.
