The Commissioners of Customs and Excise, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by paragraph 7 of Schedule 3 to the Betting and Gaming Duties Act 1981[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order: Citation and Commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Betting and Gaming Duties Act 1981 (Bingo Prize Limit) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 11th August 1997. Increase in Prize Limit 2. Paragraph 5 of Schedule 3 to the Betting and Gaming Duties Act 1981 (exemption from bingo duty for certain small-scale, commercially-provided bingo games) shall have effect as if for the amount specified in sub-paragraph (2)(c) there were substituted "£5"[2]. Revocation 3. Article 5(c) of the Betting and Gaming Duties Act 1981 (Monetary Amounts) Order 1995[3] is hereby revoked. D. J. It increases the maximum amount permitted to be distributed as a money prize from £1 to £5.
