ROAD TRAFFIC

The International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations 1997

  Made 8th July 1997 
  Laid before Parliament 21st July 1997 
  Coming into force 11th August 1997 

The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1, 2(1) and (5) and 3 of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Act 1976[1], hereby makes the following Regulations: - 

     1. These Regulations may be cited as the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 11th August 1997.

    
2. In regulation 2 (Interpretation and transitional provision) of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 1985[2] for the definition of "ATP" there shall be substituted:

      " "ATP" means the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage (ATP) concluded at Geneva on 1st September 1970 as amended pursuant to article 18 of the agreement[3] and as further amended pursuant to that article by an amendment to article 18 which came into force on 24 February 1996[4] and by amendments to Annex 1 which came into force on 15 May 1991[5], 24 February 1996[6] and 12 July 1997[7], amendments to appendices 1 and 2 of Annex 1 which came into force on 6 July 1989[8] and 13 December 1991[9], amendments to appendix 2 of Annex 1 which came into force on 30 September 1990[10], 15 June 1993[11], 18 July 1993[12] and 22 February 1996[13], amendments to Annex 2 which came into force on 28 March 1991[14] and 13 February 1996[15], and an amendment to Annex 3 which came into force on 14 November 1996[16];".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the definition in the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 1985 of the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage (ATP) concluded on 1st September 1970, to take account of further amendments to the Agreement.
