The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 180(1) of the Pensions Act 1995[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation

- (1) This Order may be cited as the Pensions Act 1995 (Commencement No. 9) Order 1997.
(2) In this Order "the Act" means the Pensions Act 1995.
Appointed days

- (1) The day appointed for the coming into force of section 80(4) of the Act (review of decisions of the Pensions Compensation Board), paragraph 12 of Schedule 2 to the Act and section 78(8) of the Act insofar as it relates to that paragraph (proceedings of the Pensions Compensation Board) -
(a) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 4th February 1997, and
(b) for all other purposes, is 6th April 1997.
(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of section 55 of the Act (end of annual increase in GMP) is 4th February 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force section 80(4) of, and Schedule 2, paragraph 12 to the Pensions Act 1995, on 4th February 1997 for regulation making purposes, and on 6th April 1997 for all other purposes. It also brings section 55 into force on 4th February 1997.
