The Criminal Appeal Act 1995 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1996

Made 4th December 1996

    In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 32 of the Criminal Appeal Act 1995[1] the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1996.
        2.    For the purposes of making recommendations and appointments under section 8 of and paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Criminal Appeal Act 1995, that section and paragraphs 1 and 2 of that Schedule shall come into force on 12th December 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force on 12th December 1996 section 8 of and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 1 to the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 for the purposes of making recommendations for the appointment of members of the Criminal Cases Review Commission and making such appointments.



NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

    The following provisions of the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 came into force on 1st January 1996 under the Criminal Appeal Act 1995 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1996 (S.I. 1995/3061):
      Sections 1, 2, 4 and 6

      Section 7 (in part)

      Sections 26 to 28

      Section 29 (in part)

      Sections 30, 31(1)(b) and (2), 32 to 34

      Schedules 2 and 3 (both in part).
