Registration areas are the organisational units for the rent officer service and rent assessment committees. Section 62 of the Rent Act 1977 provides that registration areas for the purposes of Part IV (Registration of Rent Under Regulated Tenancies) of that Act outside London are counties. Article 2 of this Order redefines the registration areas named in that article, as a consequence of the reorganisation of the counties named in that article under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1992.
