TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Employment Rights Act 1996 (Residuary Commencement No. 1) Order 1996

Made 1st October 1996

    The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of the power conferred on him by paragraph 15(2)(b) of Schedule 2 to the Employment Rights Act 1996[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Employment Rights Act 1996 (Residuary Commencement No. 1) Order 1996.
    Appointed day
        2.    The day appointed as the relevant commencement date for the purposes of paragraph 15(1) of Schedule 2 to the Employment Rights Act 1996 (thereby bringing into force sections 46, 58 to 60 and 102 of that Act) is the 6th October 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order provides for the coming into force of sections 46, 58 to 60 and 102 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 (employment rights of trustees of occupational pensions schemes). By virtue of section 243 of the Act, the remainder of the Act came into force on the 22nd August 1996 with the exception of section 192 (armed forces) and sub-sections (3)(d) and (4)(a)(iv) of section 219 (disability discrimination).
