SPECIAL ROADS

The A1 (Old Craighall Roundabout to East of Haddington) Special Road Regulations 1996

Made 17th September 1996
Laid before Parliament 23rd September 1996
Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(1)

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 17(2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, having consulted such representative organisations as he thought fit in accordance with section 134(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the A1 (Old Craighall Roundabout to East of Haddington) Special Road Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on the date declared by the Secretary of State as traffic authority[2] by notice in accordance with the Special Roads (Notice of Opening) (Scotland) Regulations 1964[3] to be the date on which the special road specified in paragraph (2) below is open for use as a special road.

        (2)  The special road referred to in paragraph (1) above is the special road authorised to be provided by-
       (a) the Edinburgh-Berwick Upon Tweed Trunk Road (A1) Old Craighall Roundabout to East of Haddington Special Road Scheme 1994[4]; and
       (b) the Edinburgh-Berwick Upon Tweed Trunk Road (A1) Old Craighall Roundabout to East of Haddington Special Road Scheme (No.2) 1994[5].

    Speed Limit
        2.    No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed exceeding 70 mph on the special road specified in regulation 1(2) above.
