SHERIFF COURT, SCOTLAND

The Sheriff Court Districts (Alteration of Boundaries) Amendment Order 1996

Made 19th August 1996
Coming into force 26th August 1996

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 43(1) of the Sheriff Courts (Scotland) Act 1971[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Sheriff Court Districts (Alteration of Boundaries) Amendment Order 1996 and shall come into force on 26th August 1996.
    Amendment of Order
        2.—(1)  The Sheriff Court Districts (Alteration of Boundaries) Order 1996[2] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this article.

        (2)  In article 2(2)(c), after the word "place" there shall be added the words "or places".

        (3)  In column 3 of Schedule 1-
       (a) in the entry relating to Forfar Sheriff Court District, for the words ", 19-22 and 24" there shall be substituted the words "and 19-24"; and
       (b) in the entry relating to Perth Sheriff Court District, the words "; and, in the area of Angus, ward 23" shall be omitted.

        (4)  In column 4 of Schedule 1-
       (a) in the entry relating to Linlithgow Sheriff Court District, after the word "Linlithgow" there shall be added the words "and Livingston"; and
       (b) in the entry relating to Dunoon Sheriff Court District, after the word "Dunoon" there shall be added the words "and Lochgilphead".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    The Sheriff Court Districts (Alteration of Boundaries) Order 1996 made provision as to the boundaries of the sheriff court districts in Scotland. This Order amends that Order so that, with effect from 26th August 1996-
      (c) electoral ward 23 in the local government area of Angus is transferred from the sheriff court district of Perth to that of Forfar; and
      (d) Livingston and Lochgilphead are prescribed as additional places at which sheriff courts may be held in the sheriff court districts of Linlithgow and Dunoon respectively.
