EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Education (London Residuary Body) (Property Transfer) (Amendment) Order 1996

Made 6th August 1996
Laid before Parliament 9th August 1996
Coming into force 31st August 1996

    In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 187(5) and (6), 231(2) and 232(5) of the Education Reform Act 1988[1], and all other powers enabling her in that behalf, the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Education (London Residuary Body) (Property Transfer) (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 31st August 1996.
        2.—(1)  Article 4(10) of the Education (London Residuary Body) (Property Transfer) Order 1992[2] ( "the principal Order") shall be revoked and the condition that the Hackney Sixth Form Centre, Cassland Road, E9 shall be disposed of and the proceeds of sale dealt with as required by Article 4(9) of that Order, if the former Shoreditch School and Site is brought into use as specified in Article 4(6A) of that Order, shall not apply.

        (2)  The words "or (10)" in article 4(4) of the principal Order shall be revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order revokes article 4(10) of the Education (London Residuary Body) (Property Transfer) Order 1992. The Order specifies that the condition will no longer apply that, if the former Shoreditch School and Site, Falkirk Street, N1 is brought into use wholly or mainly for the purposes of an institution for the education of persons over compulsory school age, the Hackney Sixth Form Centre, Cassland Road, E9 is to be disposed of and the proceeds of sale distributed between the inner London councils and the Common Council of the City of London.
