Regulation 2(2) amends section 4A to apply subsection (1) to persons who are not nationals of a member State so far as is necessary to enable a right under Article 11 of Regulation (EEC) No. 1612/68 (workers' families), or any other enforceable Community right, to be exercised. Paragraphs (3) to (6) of regulation 2 amend section 4A of the 1954 Act by providing for further qualifications to be regarded as appropriate European diplomas for the purposes of that section. They implement Articles 6(2) and 6a of Directive 85/433/EEC, inserted by Article 7(2) and (3) of Directive 90/658/EEC. That Directive makes amendments consequent on the unification of Germany to Directives on the recognition of professional qualifications. It also provides for the recognition of other pharmaceutical qualifications awarded in member States. Regulation 2(7) makes a minor amendment to the definition of "competent authorities" in section 4A(6). Regulation 3 repeals part of the entry relating to Germany in Schedule 1A to the 1954 Act in implementation of Article 7(1) of Directive 90/658/EEC.
