NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service Litigation Authority (Amendment) Regulations 1996

Laid before Parliament 29th March 1996
Coming into force 19th April 1996

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 126(4) of, and paragraph 12 of Schedule 5 to, the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service Litigation Authority (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 19th April 1996.
    Amendment of Regulations
        2.    In paragraph 5(1) of the Schedule to the National Health Service Litigation Authority Regulations 1995[2] (rules as to meetings and proceedings of the Authority—quorum) for the words from "three" to the end of the sub-paragraph there shall be substituted the words "two non-officer members, or the chairman and one non-officer member, are present.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the National Health Service Litigation Authority Regulations 1996 which provide for the membership and procedure of the National Health Service Litigation Authority (a special health authority established under the National Health Service Act 1977), to correct the provision in those Regulations governing the number of members who must be present before business may be transacted at meetings of the Authority.
