COUNTY COURTS

The Civil Courts (Amendment) Order 1996

Made 16th January 1996
Laid before Parliament 16th January 1996
Coming into force 16th February 1996

    The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2(1) of the County Courts Act 1984[1], hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Civil Courts (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 16th February 1996.
        2.    In this Order, "the 1983 Order" means the Civil Courts Order 1983[2] and a Schedule referred to by number alone means the Schedule so numbered in that Order.
        3.—(1)  In Schedule 1:—
       (a) "Alfreton" shall be deleted from its position in the second column opposite the entry for "Chesterfield" in the first column;
       (b) "Ilkeston" shall be deleted from its position in the second column opposite the entry for "Nottingham" in the first column;
       (c) "Matlock" shall be deleted from its position in the second column opposite the entry for "Derby" in the first column;
       (d) "Sleaford" shall be deleted from its position in the second column opposite the entry for "Boston" in the first column and
       (e) "Spalding" shall be deleted from its position in the second column opposite the entry for "Boston" in the first column.

        (2)  In Schedule 3 the entries relating to "Alfreton", "Ilkeston", "Matlock", "Sleaford" and "Spalding"[3] shall be deleted

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Civil Courts Order 1983 so as to close the County Courts at Alfreton, Ilkeston, Matlock, Sleaford and Spalding.
