    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 80(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988[1], and of all powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with the provisions of section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 5th February 1996.
        2.    The Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 1979[2] shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
        3.    In Schedule 2 after item 7C there shall be added the following item—

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 1979 by prescribing a new item 7D in Schedule 2, being a marking relating to centre mounted stop lamps. The amendment is consequential upon the 02 series of amendments incorporated in the second revision of ECE Regulation 7. Copies of these Regulations and the relevant amendments can be obtained from Her Majesty's Stationery Office. The details are set out below.
