PROBATION

The Combined Probation Areas (North Wales) Order 1995

Made 27th September 1995
Coming into force 1st October 1995

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 2 of the Probation Service Act 1993[1], and after the consultation required by that section, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Combined Probation Areas (North Wales) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st October 1995.
        2.    That part of the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986[2] which relates to the North Wales Probation Area[3] shall be amended by—
       (a) omitting the entries in respect of the petty sessions areas of North Anglesey, North Meirionnydd, South Anglesey and South Meirionnydd;
       (b) inserting, in alphabetical order—
         (i) in column 1 "Meirionnydd" and corresponding to this in column 3 "2";
         (ii) in column 1 "Ynys Môn/Anglesey" and corresponding to this in column 3 "2".
        3.    The two members of the North Wales Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions areas of North Meirionnydd and South Meirionnydd shall continue in office as if appointed by the justices for the new petty sessions area of Meirionnydd[4].
        4.    The two members of the North Wales Probation Committee appointed before 1st October 1995 by the justices for the petty sessions areas of North Anglesey and South Anglesey shall continue in office as if appointed by the justices for the new petty sessions area of Ynys Môn/Anglesey[4].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Combined Probation Areas Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/1713) to take account of the re-organisation of four of the petty sessions areas within the North Wales Probation Area into two new petty sessions areas effected by the Petty Sessional Divisions (Gwynedd) Order 1995 (S.I. 1995/1600), the relevant provisions of which come into force on 1st October 1995.
