NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE,ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 2) Order 1995

Made 1st March 1995
Laid before Parliament 9th March 1995
Coming into force 1st April 1995

    The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126 (3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1], section 25(2) of the Welsh Language Act 1993[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 2) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st April 1995.
    Abolition of Authorities
        2.    The following District Health Authorities are hereby abolished:—
       (a) East Dyfed Health Authority,
       (b) Pembrokeshire Health Authority.
    Establishment and name of new Authority
        3.    There is hereby established for Dyfed District determined by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 2) Order 1995[3] a District Health Authority which shall be known by the name of Dyfed Health Authority, or Awdurdod Iechyd Dyfed.
    Amendment of the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990
        4.    In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990[4] shall be amended as follows:—
       (a) by the insertion in article 4 before the words "shall continue to be" of the words "is or";
       (b) by the omission from Schedule 2 of the entries in column (1) relating to East Dyfed District and Pembrokeshire District and in column (2) relating to East Dyfed Health Authority and Pembrokeshire Health Authority; and the insertion in those columns after the entry relating to Clwyd District of the entry:—
         (i) in column (1) of "Dyfed", and
         (ii) in column (2) "Dyfed Health Authority or Awdurdod Iechyd Dyfed"

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order abolishes from 1st April 1995 East Dyfed Health Authority and Pembrokeshire Health Authority (article 2) and establishes the new District Health Authority to be known as Dyfed Health Authority or Awdurdod Iechyd Dyfed (article 3). The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes (article 4).
    The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished Health Authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 2) Order 1995.
