The Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 (Commencement No.13) Order 1995

Made 13th February 1995

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 75(2) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 (Commencement No.13) Order 1995.
    Commencement
        2.    Sections 56 to 59 (evidence by children in criminal trials) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 shall, in so far as they are not then in force[2], come into force on 3rd April 1995.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order brings into force on 3rd April 1995 sections 56 to 59 of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990, in so far as those sections are not already in force. Sections 56 to 59 deal with evidence by children in criminal trials and were brought into force on 30th September 1991 but only for proceedings in certain sittings of the High Court of Justiciary and in certain sheriff courts. This Order brings the sections into force for proceedings for other sittings of the High Court and other sheriff courts.
