TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The Telecommunications (Registers) Order 1995

Made 23rd January 1995
Laid before Parliament 1st February 1995
Coming into force 1st March 1995

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 19(4) and (5), 21(3) and 23(4) of the Telecommunications Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Telecommunications (Registers) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st March 1995.
    Interpretation
        2.    In this Order—

    "the Act" means the Telecommunications Act 1984;

    "bank holiday" means any day which is a bank holiday in England and Wales under section 1 of and Schedule 1 to the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971[2]; and

    "registers" means the registers kept by the Director under sections 19, 21 and 23 of the Act.
    Public inspection of the registers
        3.    The registers shall be open to public inspection—
       (a) between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on all days except:—
        Saturdays;
        Sundays;
        Christmas Day;
        Maundy Thursday;
        Good Friday;
        bank holidays; and
        the Friday before the last Monday in May; and
       (b) between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon on Maundy Thursday.
    Fees payable for certified copies
        4.    The fee payable for supplying a copy of or extract from any part of the registers, certified by the Director to be a true copy or extract, shall be:—
       (a) £1 where the copy does not exceed ten pages, or for the first ten pages of a copy which exceeds ten pages; and
       (b) 10 pence for every page of a copy after the tenth page.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order prescribes the hours during which the registers kept by the Director under the Telecommunications Act 1984 are to be open for public inspection and the fees payable for supplying certified copies of or extracts from the registers. No fee is payable for inspection of the registers.
