The National Health Service (General Medical and Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 1994

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 19, 27 and 108(1) of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978([1]), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Medical and Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 1st November 1994.

        (2)  In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the National Health Service (General Medical and Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1974([2]).
    Amendment to Schedule 2A to the principal Regulations
        2.    In Schedule 2A to the principal Regulations([3]) (drugs and other substances not to be supplied by general medical practitioners or prescribed for supply under pharmaceutical services)-
       (a) the following entries shall be deleted:-

    Amendment to Schedule 2B to the principal Regulations
        3.    Schedule 2B to the principal Regulations([4]) (drugs to be supplied by general medical practitioners or prescribed for supply under pharmaceutical services only in certain circumstances) shall be amended as follows:-
       (a) the entry relating to Pregnavite Forte F Tablets shall be deleted; and
       (b) after the entry relating to Cyanocobalamin Tablets there shall be inserted in columns 1, 2 and 3 respectively the following:-
        Niferex Elixir 30ml Paediatric Dropper Bottle Infants born prematurely Prophylaxis and treatment of iron deficiency
        Nizoral Cream Any patient Treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis and pityriasis versicolor

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations, which come into force on 1st November 1994, amend the National Health Service (General Medical and Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1974 ("the principal Regulations") which regulate the terms on which doctors and chemists provide general medical services and pharmaceutical services under the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978.
    Schedule 2A to the principal Regulations lists drugs and other substances which cannot be supplied by doctors, or prescribed for supply under pharmaceutical services. Regulation 2 deletes certain substances from, and adds other substances to, that Schedule.
    Regulation 3(a) deletes a drug in Schedule 2B to the principal Regulations which lists certain drugs which may be prescribed under the NHS but only for specific clinical conditions. Regulation 3(b) adds two new preparations to that Schedule.
