CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Oil and Chemical Pollution of Fish) (No.2) Order 1993 (Partial Revocation No. 3) Order 1994

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(1) and (2) and section 24(1) and (3) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985^[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
    1.    This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Oil and Chemical Pollution of Fish) (No.2) Order 1993 (Partial Revocation No. 3) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st October 1994.

Partial revocation
    2.    The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Oil and Chemical Pollution of Fish) (No.2) Order 1993^[2] is hereby revoked except insofar as it applies in relation to mussels (Mytilis edulis), scallops (Pecten maximus), queen scallops (Chlamys opercularis) and Norway lobsters (Nephrops norvegicus).

This Order revokes the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Oil and Chemical Pollution of Fish) (No.2) Order 1993 except insofar as it applies to mussels, scallops, queen scallops and Norway lobsters.

That Order contains emergency prohibitions restricting various activities in order to prevent human consumption of food rendered unsuitable for that purpose by virtue of fish and shellfish having been affected by oil and other chemical pollutants. The prohibitions in that Order will remain in place for mussels, scallops, queen scallops and Norway lobsters.
