NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 3) Order 1994

Made 5th September 1994
Laid before Parliament 6th September 1994
Coming into force 1st October 1994

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by sections 8(1)(b) and (1A)(c) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1]and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) (No. 3) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st October 1994.
    Abolition of Authorities
        2.    Bolton Health Authority and Wigan Health Authority are hereby abolished.
    Establishment and name of new Authority
        3.    A District Health Authority, to be called Wigan and Bolton Health Authority, is hereby established for Wigan and Bolton District which was determined by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 3) Order 1994[2].
    Amendment of the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990
        4.    In consequence of articles 2 and 3 of this Order, Part 8 of Schedule 1 to the National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990[3]shall be amended by the omission of the entries in columns (1) and (2) relating to Bolton District and Wigan District, and the insertion in those columns, immediately before the entries relating to Wirral District, of the following entries:—
      Wigan and Bolton Wigan and Bolton Health Authority

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order abolishes on 1st October 1994 Bolton Health Authority and Wigan Health Authority (article 2), and establishes the Wigan and Bolton Health Authority (article 3). The National Health Service (District Health Authorities) Order 1990 is amended to reflect these changes (article 4).
    The changes made to District Health Authorities in this Order are reflected in changes to the districts of the abolished health authorities made by the National Health Service (Determination of Districts) (No. 3) Order 1994.
