SPORTS GROUNDS AND SPORTING EVENTS

The Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1994

Made 23rd August 1994
Laid before Parliament 5th September 1994
Coming into force 26th September 1994

    The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and 18(2) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975[1], after such consultation as is mentioned in section 18(4) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 26th September 1994.
        2.    The sports ground at Kirklees Stadium, Stadium Way, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD1 6PX (being a sports ground which in the opinion of the Secretary of State has accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators) is hereby designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
        3.    In the Schedule to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1983[2], the entry in respect of Leeds Road, Huddersfield shall be omitted.
        4.    In Schedule 1 to the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986[3], the entry in respect of Borough Park, Princess Street, Blackpool shall be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    Article 2 of this Order designates the sports ground specified therein as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
    Articles 3 and 4 of this Order vary the Orders referred to therein by omitting entries which are, in the case of Article 3, no longer sports grounds or which are, in the case of Article 4, no longer used for the same purposes as those other sports grounds designated under the 1975 Act.
