The Local Authorities (Armorial Bearings) Order 1994

Made 19th July 1994
Coming into force 20th July 1994

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 19th day of July 1994

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 247 of the Local Government Act 1972[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Armorial Bearings) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 20th July 1994.
        2.    The armorial bearings which, immediately before 1st April 1974, were borne and used by the Gainsborough urban district council, may be borne and used by the Gainsborough town council, provided they have first been exemplified according to the law of arms and recorded in the College of Arms.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order authorises Gainsborough town council to bear and use the armorial bearings of the former Gainsborough urban district council.
