CRIMINAL LAW, SCOTLANDCRIMINAL LAW, NORTHERN IRELAND

The Criminal Justice Act 1993 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1994

Made 14th January 1994

    In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 78(3) and (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1993[1], I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1993 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1994.
        2.    The provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1993 ("the 1993 Act") referred to in the left-hand column of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the matters described in the right-hand column of the Schedule) shall come into force on 15th February 1994.
        3.—(1)  So far as relating to the following provisions of the 1993 Act, namely—
       (a) sections 47, 49 and 78; and
       (b) so far as it relates to the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1989[2], the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990[3] and section 67(6) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991[4], Schedule 6,
    this Order extends to the United Kingdom.

        (2)  So far as relating to the following provisions of the 1993 Act, namely—
       (a) sections 29, 30 and 31; and
       (b) paragraph 14(2)(a) of Schedule 5,
    this Order extends to Great Britain only.

        (3)  So far as relating to the following provisions of the 1993 Act, namely—
       (a) sections 16 and 74; and
       (b) paragraph 14(1) of Schedule 5 and, so far as it relates to the Drug Trafficking Offences Act 1986[5] and to the Criminal Justice Act 1988[6], Schedule 6,
    this Order extends to England and Wales only.

        (4)  So far as relating to the following provisions of the 1993 Act, namely—
       (a) sections 17 and 33; and
       (b) paragraph 14(2)(b) of Schedule 5,
    this Order extends to Scotland only.

        (5)  So far as relating to the entry in Schedule 6 to the 1993 Act relating to section 50(2) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991, this Order extends to Northern Ireland only.
