PUBLIC PASSENGER TRANSPORT

The Public Service Vehicles (Registration of Local Services) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 52(1) and 60(1)(e) and (1A) of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 ("the 1981 Act")^[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 61(2) of the 1981 Act ^[2], hereby makes the following Regulations:

    1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Registration of Local Services) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st December 1993.

    2.    The Public Service Vehicles (Registration of Local Services) Regulations 1986^[3] shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

    3.    In the regulations specified in column 1 of the Table below for the amounts specified in column 2 there shall be substituted the amounts specified in column 3 of the Table.

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles (Registration of Local Services) Regulations 1986.

By section 6 of the Transport Act 1985, particulars of local services are required to be registered with the traffic commissioner for any traffic area in which there is a stopping place for that service.

The fee for an application to register particulars of or vary the registered particulars of a community bus service, other than a service provided under an agreement providing for service subsidies, remains unchanged at £10.

The fee for an application to register particulars of a service in any other case is increased from £30 to £38 and the fee for an application to vary the registered particulars of such a service is increased from £27 to £38.

These fees were last increased in 1988.
