EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Education (Teachers) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Made 2nd August 1993
Laid before Parliament 5th August 1993
Coming into force 1st September 1993

    In exercise of the powers conferred by section 218(1)(a), (2) and 232(5) of the Education Reform Act 1988[1], the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Teachers) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st September 1993.
    Amendment
        2.    In paragraph 2 of Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1993[2]
       (a) in sub-paragraph (1), for the words "institution or university" there shall be substituted the words "school, city technology college, institution, or university";
       (b) for sub-paragraph (1)(a), there shall be substituted the following—
          "(i) is for the degree of Bachelor of Education, a certificate in Education, a post-graduate certificate in Education or a comparable qualification awarded by a university in England or Wales; or
          (ii) is a post-graduate course of teacher training at a school or city technology college" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1993 to cover courses at schools (including city technology colleges); sub-paragraph (1)(a) has been amended in consequence and a redundant reference to the Council for National Academic Awards omitted.
