The Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order 1993

Made 20th July 1993

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 20th day of July 1993

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1(2) of the Armed Forces Act 1991[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:—
        1.    The Army Act 1955[2], the Air Force Act 1955[3] and the Naval Discipline Act 1957[4] shall continue in force for a period of twelve months beyond 31st August 1993, that day being the day on which they would otherwise expire.
        2.    This Order may be cited as the Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order 1993.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    Section 1(1) of the Armed Forces Act 1991 provided that the Army Act 1955, the Air Force Act 1955 and the Naval Discipline Act 1957 should continue in force until 31st August 1992 and should then expire unless continued in force in accordance with the section. The Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992 No. 1712) enabled those Acts to continue in force for 12 months beyond that date. This Order enables the Acts to continue in force for a further period of 12 months.
