The Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Coming into force 8th June 1993

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 105(7) and 108(1) of and paragraph 3 of Schedule 7 to the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978([1]), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 8th June 1993.

        (2)  In these Regulations-
      "the principal Regulations" means the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust Regulations 1953([2]);
      "the Trust" means the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust.

    Amendment of regulation 3 of the principal Regulations
        2.    In paragraph (3) of regulation 3 of the principal Regulations (term of office of members of the Trust) for the words "six years" there shall be substituted the words "for such period not exceeding four years as the Secretary of State shall specify on making the appointment".
    Application of these Regulations
        3.    The amendment made by regulation 2 of these Regulations shall apply only in relation to appointments of members of the Trust made after 31st May 1993.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust Regulations 1953 to provide that the term of office of members of the Trust appointed after 31st May 1993 shall be for a period not exceeding four years.
