MERCHANT SHIPPING

The Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Made 4th March 1993
Laid before Parliament 11th March 1993
Coming into force 1st April 1993

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of powers conferred on him by section 5(2) of the Merchant Shipping (Mercantile Marine Fund) Act 1898[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.
        2.    The Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) Regulations 1990[2] shall be amended in the Schedule thereto as follows—
       (a) in paragraph 1(1) of Part I (Scale of Payments)—
        for "£60" substitute "£62"
        for "41.5 pence" (in both places) substitute "43 pence";
        for "83 pence" substitute "86 pence";
       (b) in paragraph 2 of Part I—
    Tugs and registered fishing vessels
       (i) in sub-paragraph (1)(a), for "£205" and "£21" substitute "£212"and "£22" respectively;
       (ii) in sub-paragraph (1)(b), for "£115" and "£12" substitute "£119"and "£12.50" respectively;
       (iii) in sub-paragraphs (2) and (3), amend the minimum payments from "£60" to "£62" in each case.
    Pleasure Craft
       (iv) in sub-paragraph (4), for "£78" substitute "£81"; and for "£26"substitute "£27";
       (v) in sub-paragraph (5), for "£26" substitute "£27".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations provide for an increase of about 3.5% in the scale of light dues payable under the Merchant Shipping Act 1894, as set out in the Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) Regulations 1990 (as amended).The last change took effect on 1st April 1992.
