SOCIAL SECURITY

The Social Security (Introduction of Disability Living Allowance) (Amendment) Regulations 1993

Coming into force 1st April 1993

    The Secretary of State for Social Security, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 5(1)(i) and 189(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992[1] and paragraph 22 of Schedule 3 to the Social Security (Consequential Provisions) Act 1992[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that the proposals to make these Regulations need not be referred to it[3], hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Introduction of Disability Living Allowance) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.
    Amendment of the Social Security (Introduction of Disability Living Allowance) Regulations 1991
        2.—(1)  The Social Security (Introduction of Disability Living Allowance) Regulations 1991[4] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation and in this regulation a reference to a numbered regulation is a reference to the regulation in those Regulations which bears that number.

        (2)  In regulation 13 (treatment of two awards of disability living allowance)—
       (a) in paragraph (1)—
         (i) for the words "4th April 1993" there shall be substituted the words "26th December 1993"; and
         (ii) for the words "5th April 1993", in each place where they occur, there shall be substituted the words "27th December 1993";
       (b) in paragraph (2) for the words "5th April 1993", in each place where they occur, there shall be substituted the words "27th December 1993".

        (3)  In regulation 26 (payments of disability living allowance)—
       (a) in paragraphs (3), (9) and (10) for the words "6th April 1993" there shall be substituted the words "28th December 1993"; and
       (b) in paragraph (13) for the words "5th April 1993" there shall be substituted the words "27th December 1993".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note does not form part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations further amend the Social Security (Introduction of Disability Living Allowance) Regulations 1991, by extending the period within which the transition from mobility allowance and attendance allowance to the two components of disability living allowance is to be effected.
