CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Radioactivity in Sheep) (England) (Partial Revocation) Order 1993

Made 6th January 1993
Laid before Parliament 12th January 1993
Coming into force 14th January 1993

    Whereas the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1)(a) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985[1], that there had been or might have been circumstances as were likely to create a hazard to human health through human consumption of food;
    And whereas the said Minister was of the opinion, in accordance with section1(1)(b) of the said Act, that in consequence of the said circumstances food which was or might have been in the future derived from sheep in the area described in Schedule 1 to the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Radioactivity in Sheep) (England) Order 1991[2], was, or might have been, or might have become, unsuitable for human consumption;
    And whereas the said Minister is now of the opinion that food which is derived or may in the future be derived from sheep in the area described in Part I of the Schedule to this Order is no longer unsuitable for human consumption in consequence of the said circumstances;
    Now, therefore, the said Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(1), and (2) and section 24(1) and (3) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Title and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Radioactivity in Sheep) (England) (Partial Revocation) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 14th January 1993.
    Partial Revocation
        2.—(1)  The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Radioactivity in Sheep) (England) (Order) 1991[3] is hereby revoked so far as it designates any part of the area set out in Part I of the Schedule to this Order.

        (2)  In consequence of that revocation the designated area for the purposes of that Order is that area set out in Part II of the Schedule to this Order.
