ENTERPRISE ZONES

The Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zones Designation Order 1993

Coming into force 1st February 1993

    Whereas by a resolution dated 13th October 1992 Hamilton District Council adopted the Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zone Scheme;
    And whereas advertisements in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 3(4)(c), (7) and (8) of Schedule 32 to the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980[1] were published in the Edinburgh Gazette and the Herald and the Hamilton Advertiser relating to the said Scheme; And whereas six weeks have expired since the date of the first publication of the said advertisements in the Edinburgh Gazette on 30th October 1992 and no application in relation to the said Scheme has been made under paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 32 to the said Act to the Court of Session:
    Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 179 of, and paragraph 5 of Schedule 32 to, the said Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zones Designation Order 1993 and shall come into force on 1st February 1993.
    Interpretation
        2.    In this Order—
      "the deposited map" means the map marked "map referred to in the Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zones Designation Order 1993", prepared in duplicate and signed by an Assistant Secretary in the Scottish Office Industry Department, of which one duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the principal offices of Hamilton District Council at the Municipal Buildings, 102 Cadzow Street, Hamilton and of which the other duplicate has been deposited and is available for inspection at the offices of the Secretary of State at New St Andrew's House, Edinburgh;

      "the Scheme" means the Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zone Scheme 1992 adopted by Hamilton District Council by resolution dated 13th October 1992.

    Designation of areas as enterprise zones
        3.    The areas to which the Scheme relates, being the sites named as (1) Blantyre Park and (2) Brandon Street/Leechlee Road, and which are shown on the deposited map and marked accordingly are hereby designated as enterprise zones.
    Effective date of designation
        4.    The designation of the enterprise zones referred to in article 3 shall have effect on 1st February 1993.
    Period of enterprise zones
        5.    The period for which the areas referred to in article 3 are to remain enterprise zones is a period of 10 years from the date when the designation takes effect.
    Definition of boundaries of enterprise zones
        6.    The boundaries of the areas referred to in article 3 are defined by the outside edge of the black delineating line in respect of each of the areas shown coloured pink on the deposited map.
    Enterprise zone authority
        7.    Hamilton District Council is hereby designated as the enterprise zone authority for the enterprise zones designated in article 3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order designates as enterprise zones the sites named in the Lanarkshire (Hamilton) Enterprise Zone Scheme as (1) Blantyre Park and (2) Brandon Street/Leechlee Road. That Scheme was adopted by Hamilton District Council on 13th October 1992.
    The designation is effective for a period of 10 years from the date of the coming into force of the Order. The location and boundaries of the enterprise zones, as designated, are shown on the plan forming part of this note.
