NORTHERN IRELAND

The Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991 (Amendment) Order 1992

Made 10th August 1992
Laid before Parliament 10th August 1992
Coming into force 11th August 1992

    Whereas under section 28(3) of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991[1] the Secretary of State may by order add to Schedule 2 to that Act any organisation that appears to him to be concerned in terrorism or in promoting or encouraging it:
    And whereas it appears to me that by reason of urgency it is necessary to make this Order without a draft thereof having been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:
    Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 28(3) of the said Act of 1991, I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991 (Amendment) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 11th August 1992.
        2.    The following organisation, that is to say—

    "The Ulster Defence Association.",

    is hereby added to Schedule 2 to the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991 (which specifies organisations which are proscribed organisations for the purposes of that Act).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order adds the Ulster Defence Association to the list of proscribed organisations contained in Schedule 2 to the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1991.
