The Gloucestershire Airport (Designation) (Detention and Sale of Aircraft) Order 1992

Laid before Parliament 11th December 1992
Coming into force 1st January 1993

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 88(10) of the Civil Aviation Act 1982[1], hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Gloucestershire Airport (Designation) (Detention and Sale of Aircraft) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st January 1993.
        2.    Gloucestershire Airport is hereby designated for the purposes of section 88 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    Section 88 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982 empowers the person owning or managing an aerodrome to which the section applies to detain and sell aircraft where default is made in the payment of airport charges. Section 88(10), as amended by the Airports Act 1986, provides that the section applies to any aerodrome owned or managed by any government department or a local authority, other than a district council in Scotland, and to any other aerodrome designated for the purposes of the section by an order made by the Secretary of State. This Order designates Gloucestershire Airport as an aerodrome to which section 88 applies.
