NORTHERN IRELAND The Pharmaceutical Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1992
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 28th day of October 1992 Present The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
1. This Order may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 and shall come into operation on such day as the Head of the Department of Health and Social Services may by order appoint.
2. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[3] shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
3. In Article 63 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972[4] (which imposes a duty on Health and Social Services Boards to arrange for the provision of drugs and medicines etc. ordered by medical practitioners and dental practitioners), in paragraph (1)
(This note is not part of the Order)
The Order extends the duty of Health and Social Services Boards in Northern Ireland to arrange for the provision of pharmaceutical services, to cover the supply of such drugs, medicines and appliances as are listed by the Department of Health and Social Services and prescribed by particular categories of nurses, midwives or health visitors in pursuance of their functions in the health service.
