EDUCATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Education (Higher Education Corporations) (No. 8) Order 1992

Made 3rd September 1992
Laid before Parliament 9th September 1992
Coming into force 30th September 1992

    In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 122(1) and(6)[1] and 126(2) of, and paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 7 to, the Education Reform Act 1988[2], the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Education (Higher Education Corporations) (No. 8) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 30th September 1992.
        2.    There shall be established on 30th September 1992—
       (a) a body corporate to be known as Wimbledon School of Art to conduct the institution known by that name from 1st April 1993; and
       (b) a body corporate to be known as Kent College for the Careers Service to conduct the institution known by that name from 1st April 1993,
    being in each case institutions which appear to the Secretary of State to satisfy the criteria set out in section 122(1) of the Education Reform Act 1988.
        3.    1st April 1993 is hereby appointed as the transfer date for each such corporation for the purposes of section 126 of that Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order makes provision for the establishment of a body corporate to conduct Wimbledon School of Art and a body corporate to conduct Kent College for the Careers Service. Each corporation will be known by the name of the institution and will be established on 30th September 1992 so as to prepare itself for the conduct of the institution on 1st April 1993 (which is appointed as the transfer date for the purposes of section 126 of the Education Reform Act 1988).
