The Academic Awards and Distinctions (Queen Margaret College) (Scotland) Order of Council 1992

By the Lords of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council

    Their Lordships, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Them by sections 48(1) and 60 of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992[1] and all other powers enabling Them in that behalf, are pleased to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Academic Awards and Distinctions (Queen Margaret College) (Scotland) Order of Council 1992 and shall come into force on 1st September 1992.

        (2)  In this Order "the Act" means the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992, and "the institution" means Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh.
    Competence to grant academic awards and distinctions
        2.—(1)  The institution is hereby specified as competent to grant all such degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic awards and distinctions as may be granted in pursuance of subsections (2) and (3) of section 48 of the Act other than post-graduate degrees.

        (2)  In the event that the name of the institution is changed under section 49 of the Act, or under any other power, the competence to grant awards and distinctions specified in paragraph (1) above shall continue to apply to the institution as re-named.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order specifies Queen Margaret College as competent to grant degrees, diplomas, certificates or other academic awards and distinctions, except post-graduate degrees.
