The Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings (Amendment) Regulations 1992

    The Secretary of State for the Environment, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 131(3) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st September 1992.
    Amendment of Regulations
        2.    At the end of regulation 3(1)(e) of the Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings Regulations 1990[2] (dwellings and works) add—

        , or
          "(f) the replacement of any pipe and associated equipment for the purpose specified in paragraph (a) of article 2 of the Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings (Lead Pipes) Order 1992[3] in any dwelling to which that paragraph applies, or
          (g) the replacement of any electrical earthing arrangements for the purpose specified in paragraph (b) of article 2 of that Order in any dwelling to which that paragraph applies."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend regulation 3 (dwellings and works) of the Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings Regulations 1990 and are consequential upon the Assistance for Minor Works to Dwellings (Lead Pipes) Order 1992. These Regulations specify two additional descriptions of works in respect of which assistance may be given for any dwelling by a local housing authority under section 131 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
    The first additional description of work is the replacement of lead pipes and associated equipment used for supplying drinking or cooking water to a dwelling by a pipe not made of lead. The second additional description of work is the replacement of electrical earthing arrangements which use such a lead pipe.
